Tim Lambourne has been around cameras and screens for the past ten years. At first, as a television journalist in his homeland of New Zealand, before shifting to entertainment and satire, and then behind the camera as a director and D.O.P. in his current home of Tokyo.
Focussing on fashion and beauty he’s created videos for brands including Dior, Balmain, Hugo Boss and The North Face.
Born just outside of Auckland, New Zealand in 1988, he received a Bachelor of Communications Studies from AUT University in 2010. During his degree he travelled to the University of Missouri where he studied art photography under Joe Johnson.
In 2012 Tim and Joe Dowling launched Paper Pirates, a travelling democratic photography exhibition which has shown in Auckland (2012, 2013, 2017), Wellington (2017), Tokyo (2014), and New York (2015).
His first solo show, Tokyo Bloom, showed at Allpress Studios in Auckland, New Zealand in late 2015, and was commissioned for an encore showing at Precinct 35 in Wellington, New Zealand, in April 2016 and at the Tokyo Institute of Photography in 2018.
